Privacy & Confidentiality.

How RPSN protects information, trust, and the people we support

Our Commitment

Privacy and confidentiality are central to the way we practice. Individuals and organisations trust us with sensitive information, and we take that responsibility seriously. Our approach is grounded in ethical practice, clinical governance, and compliance with relevant legislation.

We protect information with care, clarity, and strong professional boundaries — ensuring that people feel safe, respected, and informed at every stage.

Confidentiality for Individuals

When individuals engage in psychotherapy or EAP support with RPSN, their information is treated with the highest level of confidentiality.

We do not share personal or identifying information with employers, referrers, or third parties unless:

  • You provide explicit written consent, or

  • There is a serious and imminent risk to your safety or the safety of others, or

  • We are legally required to disclose information (e.g., court order, mandatory reporting obligations).

Your sessions, your story, and your personal information remain private. We maintain secure records, clear boundaries, and transparent communication so you always know how your information is handled.

Confidentiality in EAP & Organisational Services

For organisations, confidentiality is equally important — but the boundaries are different.

We provide non‑identifying, high‑level information only, such as:

  • Themes or trends relevant to workplace wellbeing or risk

  • Recommendations for organisational support

  • Confirmation of attendance (only when contractually required and agreed upon)

We do not share personal details, clinical content, or identifying information about any employee without their explicit consent or unless required by law.

This protects individuals while still allowing organisations to meet their WHS, governance, and operational responsibilities.

Information We Collect

Depending on the service, we may collect:

  • Contact details

  • Relevant personal or organisational information

  • Clinical notes

  • Risk or safety information

  • Administrative and billing details

We collect only what is necessary to provide safe, effective, and compliant services.

How Information Is Stored

All information is stored securely in accordance with:

  • Australian Privacy Principles (APPs)

  • Relevant state and federal legislation

  • Clinical governance and ethical standards

We use secure systems, restricted access, and clear retention policies to ensure information is protected at all times.

When Information May Be Shared

Information is shared only when:

  • You provide written consent, or

  • There is a serious and imminent risk to you or others, or

  • We are legally obligated to disclose information, or

  • It is required to coordinate care with your permission (e.g., GP, psychiatrist, case manager)

We will always explain what information is being shared, with whom, and why — unless we are legally prevented from doing so.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your information

  • Request corrections to your information

  • Ask how your information is stored or used

  • Withdraw consent (where applicable)

  • Raise concerns about privacy or confidentiality

We are committed to transparency and will support you to understand your rights at any time.
